Vitoria vs Chapecoense
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 7 June 2018
Kick-off: 00:30 CET
Vitória were so bad in the first half at Santos on Sunday, that their coach, Vagner Mancini, made all his substitutions at halftime(!). Only thing is, by then, Vitória were already 4-0(!) down. The Salvador side did look very improved in the second half, scored twice, ended up losing 5-2, but their second half performance was not enough to get them off the hook. When their plane landed at Salvador’s airport, on their way back from Sao Paulo, they were… expected by fans of theirs, who made sure to show the players and the coach… what they thought of their “embarrassment” at Santos, and of their campaign in the Série A in general, thus far. Vitória are below the relegation line, on just eight points from nine matches. Plus, they have the worst defensive record in the league, having conceded 20 goals, more than any other team. At home, thus far, they have won four out of possible 12 points. Midfielder Rodrigo Andrade, one of the three players who got substituted at halftime on Sunday, is out, due to cards.
Chapecoense visited Atlético Mineiro last weekend, it was the third game between the two in less than 30 days, their two Copa do Brasil clashes had zero goals, but their Série A match had enough… drama for three games. Chape managed to leave Belo Horizonte with a point (3-3), despite playing with a man less for more than 50 minutes. When Leandro Pereira got sent-off, they had just gone 2-1 down. Remarkably, they managed to equalize twice (2-2, 3-3), and earn a rather unexpected point. Instead of returning to Chapecó and then fly to Bahia, they stayed in Belo Horizonte and trained at Cruzeiro’s facilities. Their coach, Gilson Kleina, said some… nasty things to the referee of the game versus Atlético Mineiro, and got himself a ban, he can’t sit on their bench in Salvador. Chape are on 10 points from nine matches. Away from home, they have two draws and three defeats thus far in the Série A.

Vitoria vs Chapecoense: Betting Tips
I’m definitely leaving winners and losers aside, choosing “over 2.5 goals” as my only tip. It pays 2.05, and feels very probable, seeing how poor both teams have been defensively in the first nine game weeks of the season.
