Sport Recife vs Atletico Paranaense
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 7 June 2018
Kick-off: 02:00 CET
With the roster they have, it feels that 15 points from nine matches in the Série A is the very definition of “overachieving”. Sport drew 0-0 with Internacional last weekend, their fourth positive result in a row, after drawing with reigning champions Corinthians, beating Palmeiras away from home(!), and beating Atlético Mineiro as well. They remain unbeaten at home, having picked up eight out of 12 possible points (two wins, two draws). Sport have the worst defensive record of all teams in the first half of the table, they have a neutral goal difference (12-12), but somehow they have managed to win four games.
Atlético Paranaense are on nine points from as many games, right above the relegation line, having won just twice since the start of the Série A season. Last weekend they took the lead in Belo Horizonte, against América Mineiro, but they ended up losing 3-1. If someone absolutely wants to draw some positives for Atlético from that game, it’s possible; they lost to a team that have been doing great at home since the start of the season, and actually Atlético had an awesome chance to make it 1-2, before… collapsing in the last 15 minutes. The Curitiba side are without a win away from home, and are visiting a team that are undefeated in front of their own fans, so Atlético will need to outdo themselves to pick up all three points.

Sport Recife vs Atletico Paranaense: Head to head Stats
Atlético Paranaense haven’t won in Recife since 2009. In four games since then, hosts Sport have two wins, and two matches have ended in a draw.
Sport Recife vs Atletico Paranaense: Prediction
Based on how both teams have done since the start of the season, an Atlético win feels… close to impossible. They have three goalless draws away from home though, in this Série A campaign, which keeps me from suggesting a downright Sport win.
Sport Recife vs Atletico Paranaense: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” is my main tip, at 1.72. Only one of Sport’s four home games thus far had more than two goals, and only one of Atlético’s five away matches. “No” on “both teams to score” is my other tip, at 1.80, doubting that Atlético will score, but having my doubts about Sport as well.
