Czech Republic vs Nigeria
Competition: International friendly
Date: 6 June 2018
Kick-off: 15:00 CET
The Czech Republic were left… wondering what had hit them a few days ago when they faced World Cup finalists Australia in Austria. They were losing 1-0 at halftime, still in the game, but in the second half they simply… collapsed, losing the game 4-0(!). Actually, it’s… remarkable that they “managed” to concede four goals to a team that is not exactly famous for scoring freely in their games, not even against much weaker sides. The Czechs are left to pick their pieces up, in what is their last friendly game before the UEFA Nations League games start in September. They seem in desperate need of a leader. Plus, they seem to need a good motivator, having seen how easily they gave up against Australia when things started going badly.
Losing 2-1 to England, especially on British soil, is no shame, so the result of their last friendly game a few days ago shouldn’t be a major concern for Nigeria. They will need to look very-very improved though, defensively, against Croatia and Iceland (let alone Argentina) in their World Cup finals group matches, or else they are almost certain to be among the first ones to depart Russia. There were definitely positives as well. They were losing 2-0 at halftime, but scored less than two minutes into the second half, and stayed in the game until the final whistle. Actually, if they had believed in it a bit more, they could have earned a what would have been a remarkable draw. No real surprise when their final World Cup squad was announced, 48 hours before this friendly game’s kick-off.

Czech Republic vs Nigeria: Head to head Stats
The Czechs have faced the Nigerians once before, in a friendly game back in 1996. They won that match, 2-1.
Czech Republic vs Nigeria: Prediction
Keep in mind, the game is held in Austria, at a neutral ground. Nigeria are considered favorites to win. I have some reservations, but deep down, the Czechs looked so poor against Australia that it’s hard to back them to avoid defeat.
Czech Republic vs Nigeria: Betting Tips
Nigeria’s win pays 2.20. If I left winners and losers aside, I would go for “over 2.5 goals”, at 2.30, seeing how poor the Czech Republic were the other day, defensively.
