Cruzeiro vs Vasco da Gama
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 7 June 2018
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
Cruzeiro didn’t exactly dazzle anyone with their football last weekend in Fortaleza, but they looked serious, focused, efficient, and left Castelao with all three points, beating Ceará 1-0. It was their fourth win in a row, third in the Série A, they are actually one of the only two teams to have picked up all nine points possible from their last three games. It’s… incredible that Cruzeiro are sitting second in the table (at least before Sao Paulo’s game against Internacional on Tuesday), having scored just six goals in nine matches(!!). Yes, that’s no mistake, they have scored just six goals. They have won four games 1-0, one game 2-0, and that’s how they have made the maximum of their goals. On the other hand, they have the best defensive record in the league, having allowed only three goals, one in every three matches. Sassá, their scorer against Ceará, is out, due to cards.
Right after Vasco da Gama’s home defeat to Botafogo last weekend, coach Zé Ricardo resigned, and Valdir Bigode has taken over as interim coach. According to reports, Jorginho, who just left Ceará, could be his successor at Sao Januário. Vasco have picked up just five out of possible 15 points in their last five games, a poor tally that has left them low in the table. It’s not just the coach that left Vasco after that 1-2 defeat to Botafogo; Colombian attacker Duvier Riascos played his last game for Vasco, before signing for Shanghai Shenhua. Things don’t look too bright at the Rio de Janeiro side, as more key players are expected to leave the club, not be members of their roster once the Série A resumes, after the World Cup finals.

Cruzeiro vs Vasco da Gama: Prediction
I do expect Cruzeiro to win, but their 1.40 is just too-too low.
Cruzeiro vs Vasco da Gama: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” is at 1.66. If I bet on Cruzeiro’s win, I would combine it with “under 2.5”. Like that, it pays 2.87.
