Corinthians vs Santos
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 7 June 2018
Kick-off: 02:00 CET
Corinthians players couldn’t believe that the referee had ended the game with the ball still inside Flamengo’s box last weekend. It was the fifth minute of added time, last one, Corinthians had won a corner kick, the ball stayed inside Fla’s box for some seconds, at some point a Flamengo player had it under control, and that’s exactly when the referee whistled the end of the match. Only thing is, Fla’s player (Rodinei) kicked it poorly, “gifting” it to an opponent, who was perfectly positioned to shoot, score. The referee had whistled when Flamengo were in control of the ball, as if Corinthians’ attack was over. Corinthians players went mad though, as the ball didn’t really get out of Fla’s box. Complicated situation, which left Corinthians fuming at the referee. Fifteen minutes earlier they had conceded, what was the game’s only goal. That was Corinthians’ third defeat in their last four games, Série A and Copa Libertadores combined. Truth is, they have been missing key players in these last games, with recently-appointed coach Osmar Loss struggling to find solutions.
It’s incredible what this 17-year-old can do with the ball. “Rodrygo”, written like that, with a “y”, instead of an “i”, which is more common, scored three goals in Santos’ 5-2 triumph over Vitória last weekend, he now has five goals in eight Série A appearances this season, and I repeat, he’s still 17, not even close to turning 18 (he will, next January). All in all, Santos were awesome in the first half, finishing it leading 4-0(!). They definitely slowed down in the second half, and ended up winning 5-2. Gabriel Barbosa (“Gabigol”) scored his third of the season, Santos’ last against Vitória. Attackers Bruno Henrique and Arthur Gomes are back, having recovered from recent injuries. Santos are on nine points from eight matches (they have one in hand, against Vasco da Gama). They have lost all four games away from home in this Série A campaign, scoring just once.

Corinthians vs Santos: Head to head Stats
Corinthians have four wins in a row over Santos as hosts, without even conceding a goal. Before that, back in 2015, Santos had managed a 1-2 win.
Corinthians vs Santos: Prediction
I’m backing Corinthians to pick up all three points, partly because Santos themselves have been horrible away from home since the start of the season.
Corinthians vs Santos: Betting Tips
Corinthians’ win pays 2.15, and that’s my only tip, even though combining it with a clean sheet looks tempting. Santos have scored just once in four away games.
